Free UK driving theory test practice

Preparing for your car theory test? Revise road rules, practise multiple-choice questions and develop your hazard awareness with official DVSA resources. The links below take you directly to GOV.UK.

Multiple-choice practice

Review road signs, speed limits, safe following distances, junctions, vulnerable road users and the Highway Code. Use the official car mock-test link above to check your progress.

The official car theory test contains 50 multiple-choice questions in 57 minutes. Practice questions are not the actual questions used in the live test.

Hazard perception

Practise recognising developing hazards early: pedestrians approaching a crossing, vehicles emerging from side roads, and changes in road conditions.

A simple revision routine

  1. Read the relevant Highway Code sections before attempting a test.
  2. Complete practice questions and review every incorrect answer.
  3. Practise identifying developing hazards using the official clips.
  4. Repeat until you can explain why each answer is right.

From theory to driving lessons

Theory study is most useful when you connect it to real driving. During lessons, ask your instructor to explain the road signs, junction decisions and developing hazards you encounter.
